Truth that never hurts but elevates

Recently, after Sandy hook mishap, I read a local newspaper stating one particular Christian denomination praised God for “executing his judgment” and also referred to tragic events of US soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan as God’s punishment for “soul-damning, nation-destroying filth”. Beside all agony, this saddened my heart with grief. Voices started buzzing in my head over puzzled and misleading Christians and their theories.

Judgement is practicable only when there is law; which is compacted with do’s and dont’s. Jesus died on the cross and was punished for every unjust and immoral deeds which we had done or doing or might be done later on.  He bore our sickness, poverty, pain, depression and all evil. He brought judgement onto himself, fulfilling the law (He took our place and was judged for our sake).

2 Corinthians 5:21 says “21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” means there was an exchange that happened and that was our sins for His righteousness. 1 Corinthians 15:56, 57 say “56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Let’s understand this properly first.  God gave the Law of Ten Commandments for people to observe where not even a single soul could say I am holy as Lord Jesus. All sinned, this led to death( since there was no redemption without shedding of blood).  Later, men knew law can never be fulfilled. He sent Jesus, His Son. He is the grace personified  and making Him one among us as a representative. After salvation came through Christ, Christ’s resurrection was His victory over Satan, God’s enemy, over the world, over sin and over death.  Christ’s death abolished the sting of death. Christ took our place to abolish the sting and to triumph over death. He was our representative. Some so called “Christians” don’t own him but feel so compelling to push others into lawful thinking; making them guilty and sin-conscious.  Ironically, there are preachers who are imbibed in the lawful practices and nullify the Lord’s finished works. They have not acknowledged the Word of God and truth is left out.  Their thoughts have overtaken them. They are cancelling the glad tidings of great joy. Pity! But truth stands forever. I’m not accusing anyone here.

People have long forgotten to look to God as a loving heavenly Father whose heart is full of grace. He is the same God who parted the Red Sea, opened heavens to shower manna (angel’s bread); who took human form and healed the leper, deaf, blind, disabled, raised the dead and drove out demons. He is such a loving, tender-hearted person filled with compassion. He does not oppress people with poverty and sickness to the rich and strong or cause earthquakes. John 10:10 says “10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus)have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”   Its crystal clear that only God’s enemy does stealing, killing and destroying but Jesus gives life.

Now as we sing :

“ Joy to the world! The Lord is come.
Let earth receive her King
Let every heart
Prepare Him room”

Let’s accept Christ as he is and believe His true and everlasting words and let’s make room in our hearts.

“Joy to the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of his love,
And wonders of his love
And wonders, and wonders of his love
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonders and wonders of His love

No more will sin and sorrow grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground”

Knowing Jesus is knowing truth and grace; proving the glories of His righteousness and wonders of His love. What an amazing song with pure truth !

Our God no longer lives in the Holy of the Holies on earth. Matthew 27:51 says “51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,” …. The veil rent so that sinners might be brought to God, who was in the Holy of the Holies. We don’t live in the earlier days with veil anymore but now live joyfully looking to His righteousness, truth and grace.

Courteous readers, I believe this Christmas is going to be much-meaningful to celebrate the birth of a person full of truth and grace,  Lord Jesus Christ.

Wishing Merry Christmas to you and yours !
